The first review will be....
something that really does not need reviews, because its already really popular. But I'll try it anyway, just to see if I can string one together.
Title: Bleach
Age rating: Teen
Author: Tite Kubo
Genre: Action
It's a: Comic
Bleach is the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a 15 year old boy, with the uncanny ability to see ghosts. He tends to help in filling last requests for spirits helping them pass on, this is suggested by the first chapter of the comic, anyway.
This all changes when he runs into a strange evil spirit, a hollow. A soul too overwhelmed by evil to pass on. A hollow eats other souls, running rampant. To stop hollows, soul reapers are introduced.
Soul Reapers are sword wielding (why not a gun? Because guns ain't as cool) monster killers whose basic job is to keep all worlds peaceful. After Ichigo runs into Rukia, a soul reaper, his life changes dramatically. After Rukia is defeated by a hollow, Ichigo borrows some of her powers in order to defeat the foe. This is all fine and good, but Ichigo accidentally steals ALL of Rukia's powers.
Upon the end of the fight, Rukia demands Ichigo take over as a soul reaper while her powers return. Ichigo eventually accepts. But things are not as they seem...
Ok, I'm not going to get any farther into the plot, I'll get down to the mechanics.
I personally am a big fan of the Bleach comic series, for several reasons. The action is constant, only stopping for a short amount of time to coherently assemble the plot. No repeated flashbacks, no constant reminder that your reading, it just files straight through.
Everything is well drawn, the actions scenes scream cool, and every detail is done in a way it should be. The lovable cast of characters, the well built world, and the weapons are all really amazing, and make you continually enjoy this series without stopping to breath.
Its only fault is that your literally finish a volume in 20 minutes, then have to wait a month or two for the next one, just because it goes so fast.
Final word:
Artwork: 4/5: Really cool art style and drawings, though I prefer Black and white, I have to be realistic and say it would look much cooler in color.
Storyline: 5/5 Incredibly lovable, interesting, and it even makes you think once and a while, how about that?
Writing: 5/5 The dialogues great, and everyone talks in a different way. All accents are usually written as pronounced. It assumes you have a brain, not making you read flashback after flashback about stuff that happened two chapters ago.
Longtime use: 4/5 Reading it again and again doesn't maker it boring, though it does sometimes allow you to pick up on things you once missed.
OVERALL: 4/5
